01 — START SECURELY
Before you begin
Start with your Ledger wallet and follow the instructions shown on the device. Get your Ledger hardware wallet through Ledger or an authorized seller, and download companion software only from Ledger’s official site. A message or website asking for your recovery phrase is not a legitimate setup step.
Write your recovery phrase exactly as displayed, then store it securely offline. Never photograph it, save it online, or share it with anyone—including Ledger Support. Anyone with the phrase may be able to access your crypto.
02 — SET UP YOUR DEVICE
Initialize your Ledger wallet
Power on your device and follow its prompts to create a wallet or restore one with a phrase you already control. Confirm instructions on the hardware wallet, choose a strong PIN, and keep the device and phrase stored separately.
Never enter your recovery phrase into a browser, chat, email, or computer app. If a prompt seems unexpected, stop and check Ledger’s official support guidance.
03 — GET THE COMPANION APP
Install Ledger Live
Ledger Live is the companion app for supported accounts and device interactions. For Ledger Live App Download, use Ledger’s official website to find the desktop or mobile version. Ledger Live Desktop and mobile features vary; check compatibility before installing.
Open Ledger Live to connect your device, review supported accounts, and check balances. A Ledger Live Login means opening the official app—not giving your recovery phrase to a person or third-party page. Install updates through official channels.
Find Ledger Live on Ledger.com04 — USE IT WITH CARE
Manage accounts and explore
Use Ledger Live to add supported accounts and review transactions. Before approving, verify details and addresses on the device display. If you are learning a workflow, consider starting with a small test transaction.
For a browser connection or Ledger Wallet Extension, check Ledger’s official resources and verify the service address. A hardware wallet cannot reverse an approved transaction or make an untrusted site safe, so review unexpected requests carefully.
